Armenia's ruling coalition agrees to continue dialogue with opposition after rallies

The working group of the ruling coalition in Armenia is ready to continue the interrupted dialogue with the opposition Armenian National Congress after the end of opposition rallies, News-Armenia reports, citing the statement of the ruling coalition.

The ruling party and the opposition ANC, led by the first president of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrosian, had held several rounds of talks on the political situation in the country, but they were suspended on the initiative of the Congress.

The opposition said it was suspending its participation in the negotiations because of violations of preliminary arrangements for the release of the ANC activist Tigran Arakelyan. In turn, representatives of the ruling coalition said they had not given any promises and did not intend to interfere in legal matters, as Arakelian was arrested after clashes with the police.
