EU puts information pressure on Caspian partners – Yevgeny Tipaylov

The European Union will continue protecting the positions of potential partners of the Southern Gas Corridor. The Director General of OMV, a shareholder of the Nabucco consortium, Gerhardt Royce, said that Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov had agreed to sign a deal on the pipeline construction.

Yevgeny Tipaylov, co-founder of the Expert League “Resource Strategy”, commented on the statement to Vestnik Kavkaza. He believes that it is some sort of information pressure on potential partners and partly on Russia.

The EU had certain activities for Russia on the European gas market, such as inspections for Gazprom. Nabucco meets the demands of Turkmenistan in Central Asia. The project itself is to invite independent players on the energy markets to provide gas supplies, bypassing Russia or purchased in the post-soviet states.
