Moldova sells unduly expensive weapons to Armenia

The Nezavisimaya Moldova newspaper reports that weapons provided by Moldova to Armenia were expensive equipment of the republican army.


The weapons included 9V862 and 9V863 "Cobra" missiles and the 9V871-3 anti-missile systems "Konkurs-M". The market price of each exceeds $60,000. Thousands of  "Fagot", "Konkurs", "Sturm-C" and "Metis" missiles were sold. Their market value exceeds $5 million.


The contract was worth $3.25 million.


Equipment was sold using an Il-76 plane from Benghazi. The Armenian plane was reported as carrying passengers. It departed from Merkulesht on September 13.
