The police have deactivated a bomb in a car belonging to the father of a candidate for president of South Ossetia, Dzambolat Tedeyev, Gazeta.ru reports.
The bomb was found on the Street of Stalin in Tskhinvali, near a pool hall. It consisted of rolls with 200 g of explosives, a radio-controlled detonator and three mobile phones with wires and a magnet attached, Interfax reports.
The car also contained 6 CDs with a documentary of Dzambolat Tedeyev’s life and an OMI insurance for Ilya Semenovich Tedeyev, his father.
The South Ossetian Central Electoral Commission refused to register Dzambolat Tedeyev, Chief Coach of the Russian national free wrestling team, as candidate for president. His supporters attempted to break into the CEC building on Friday.
The incident was followed by halting entry to the republic for Russians. The restrictions were lifted on Wednesday.
