Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili is sceptical of the
possibility of a Russian-Georgian rapprochement, but remains
optimistic regarding the future, reports Interfax.
"We have to maintain our path - this is development, economics, and a
strengthening of nationhood and democracy - and we have to wait for
the time when modernized Georgia will become a desirable partner for
modernized Russia," Saakashvili said on Wednesday.
According to Saakashvili, Russia will start modernization quicker than
anybody think, since it has more problems than the USSR had at the
beginning of the 1980s.
He also noted that Georgia is not interested in the long-term absence
of relations with Russia.
