Syrian opposition agrees with veto of Russia and China

The head of the Syrian delegation to the Russian Foreign Ministry, Kadri Jamil, said that no interference would help start a dialogue and resolve the crisis in Syria. Jamil met Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov and opposition representatives. The Syrian official said that he is satisfied with the veto of Russia and China to prevent intervention, ITAR-TASS reports.

Commenting on President Bashar Assad’s resignation, Jamil underlined that it will be the people’s choice. The president himself cannot decide that.

The Syrian official touched upon a proposal by Mikhail Margelov, head of the committee for international affairs of the Federation Council, to have a meeting of the authorities and opposition in Moscow. Such a meeting would preferably be held in Syria, he said.
