Turkey says PKK leader was arrested and released in Iran

Murat Karayilan, Leader of the Kurdish Workers’ Party (PKK), was arrested and released after questioning in Iran, Turkish Vice-Premier Bulent Arync said, Trend reports.


The conflict with the PKK has been ongoing for over 25 years and resulted in over 40,000 people killed. The UN and the EU recognize the party as a terrorist organization.
