Experts: Azerbaijan is of great interest to all geopolitical players

Today RIA Novosti held a video bridge between Moscow, Baku and Washington on
the topic: "Russia - Azerbaijan - United States, in the context of a multi-vector policy." This event was timed with the 20th anniversary of
the restoration of the state independence of Azerbaijan, which is celebrated on
October 18. The members of the conference were the general director of the
Institute of Caspian Cooperation, Sergei Mikheyev, editor-in-chief of
"Problems of national strategy," Ajdar Kurts, Ex-CIA analyst and State
Department employee, publicist Paul Goble, Rector of the Azerbaijani Diplomatic
Academy, Fariz Ismailzade, and the chairman of the Association of American
graduates, Jeyhun Kyaram.

The panelist noted the growing potential of the South Caucasus over
the past years and, above all, acknowledged Azerbaijan as a country of
increasing natural resources. Experts also talked about the geopolitical and
strategic importance of the country and the region as a whole. However, the
participants also noted the instability in the Southern Caucasus, and its
proximity to the troubled areas of the Middle East, which only adds to the
risks.
