Grozny is hosting a science-practical conference on use of the Internet to fight the terrorism ideology. The meeting was organized by the Moscow State Linguistic University with support of the presidential envoy to the North Caucasian Federal District, the Ministry for Communication, National Policy, Press and information of Chechnya and the Chechen Ministry of Education and Science. Alexey Vlasov, Editor-in-Chief of Vestnik Kavkaza, made an opening report.
He noted that the basic principles explaining the point of fighting terrorism ideology in Russia was set in the federal law for terrorism control and the president’s decree on measures against terrorism. Stress was put on the “ideology of violence”, allowing other institutions to concentrate on preventing terrorism.
The Internet is a source of information to fight terrorism, especially in terms of ideology. Social polls of the Moscow State University of Lomonosov say that 36.9% of people questioned believe internet to give the most reliable information on world events. Terrorists often use the Internet for agitation.
All state structures need to undergo informative-ideological operation in the net to form a negative attitude towards radical religious, extremist and terrorist statements, Alexey Vlasov concludes.
