Russia appoints new ambassador to Iran

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has appointed Levan Jagaryan as the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Iran, replacing Alexander Sadovnikov, on Thursday, RIA Novosti reports.


Jagaryan was a Russian Charge d'Affaires to Tajikistan. Sadovniko has been the Ambassador to Iran for over 6 years, taking office in May 2005.
