The US initiative for a New Silkroad will be considered at the working group for Afghanistan at the CSTO Council of Foreign Ministers, Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Ruslan Kazakbayev, ITAR-TASS reports.
The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) consists of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
The US New Silkroad initiative is aimed at the restoration of economy, peace and stability in Afghanistan by inviting neighbor states to the process. Washington believes that the plan should unite energy and transport communications of Middle and South Asia, including the CASA-1000 power line, gas pipeline, roads and railways.
The minister recalled that the topic had been discussed at the 66th session of the UN General Assembly. He expects discussions in Istanbul and Bonn on Afghanistan to continue until the end of this year. Kyrgyzstan has a contact group for Afghanistan.
Bishkek is positive towards the New Silkroad idea.
