Mubariz Ahmedoglu: main purpose of OSCE Minsk Group to overcome the post-Kazan summit depression

Today is the start of the visit of the OSCE Minsk Group, the mediator in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, to the region. Today Igor Popov (Russia), Bernard Fassier (France) and Robert Bradtke (USA), as well as the personal representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Andrzej Kasprzyk, arrived in Yerevan to meet with the Armenian Foreign Minister, Edward Nalbandian.

According to Nalbandian, the position of the Baku authorities on the possibility of developing a peace agreement on Karabakh without discussion of the basic principles of the settlement is contrary to the logic of the negotiation process.

The director of the Center of Political Innovations and Technologies, Mubariz Ahmedoglu, said that the main purpose of the visit of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs is to leave the state of depression into which they fell after the Kazan meeting.

Ahmedoglu is confident that the co-chairs desire to organize a decisive meeting, but they missed this opportunity in Kazan, where they could have achieved the signing of a preliminary document on the principles of a Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement.
