Voting for election of Azerbaijan as UN Security Council member postponed to October 24

Voting for election of Azerbaijan as UN Security Council member postponed to October 24

Several rounds of voting in the UN headquarters for the election as non-permanent member of the UN Security Council in 2012-2013 from Eastern European countries ended without result. None of the countries could overcome the barrier in two-thirds vote which is necessary by the UN Charter, Trend reports.

Azerbaijan did not get just 14 votes to win the elections.

It was decided to postpone a voting on Monday, October 24.

As a result of other ballots Pakistan, Morocco, Guatemala and Togo become new non-permanent UNSC members.

From Eastern European States, Azerbaijan, Hungary and Slovenia claim for places that Bosnia and Herzegovina will vacate in late 2011.
