The situation in the security zone of the Transdnistrian conflict has worsened. Residents of the Moldovan village of Pogrebya near the town of Dubossary organized rallies, after the authorities of the unrecognized Transdnistrian state installed a border post. Representatives of Moldova in the Joint Control Commission (JCC) on the management of peacekeeping operations were concerned about the situation and demanded the checkpoint be dismantled. They also called on the OSCE, the Russian Federation and Ukraine to intervene and organize an urgent extraordinary meeting of the JCC, ITAR-TASS reports.
At the moment a few dozen villagers are gathered next to the post, as well as the police of Moldova.
Representatives of Russia, Ukraine and the OSCE recently urged Transdnistria and Moldova to abstain from conflicts and not to complicate the situation in the security zone.
