Two unidentified assailants killed a religious figure in Dagestan on Thursday evening, RIA Novosti reports.
Sirazhutdin Israfilov was killed in the Khurik Village of the Tabasaransky District at about 5.00 pm. The assailants, wearing camouflage, asked him to come out and shot him.
Israfilov was a well-known sheikh, respected by many Muslims in South Dagestan. Dagestani Leader Magomedsalam Magomedov expressed condolences to his relatives.
