Prime Minister Almazbek Atambayev, a supporter of President Roza Otunbayeva, has won the presidential polls in the first round, head of the Central Electoral Commission Tuygunaly Abdraimov said this morning.
20 days will be needed for all territorial commissions to bring in protocols and for them to be checked.
The CEC head noted cases of false ballot sheets. With 95% of sheets having been checked, Atambayev had received 62.8% of vote, followed by the leader of United Kyrgyzstan, Adakhan Madumarov, with 14.9% of the vote, and the head of the Ata-Zhurt parliamentary faction, Kamchibek Tashiyev, with 14.4%.
16 people were running for president, ITAR-TASS reports.
The head of the CIS monitoring mission, Sergey Lebedev, told journalists today that the Kyrgyz elections on Sunday correspond to the country’s legislation, RIA Novosti reports.
