Barack Obama does not plan visits to Russia this year

US President Barack Obama does not plan to visit Russia this year, his advisor for national security Ben Rods said after an invitation to Russia for December 13, 2011, RIA Novosti reports.


Rods reminded that, besides the G20 summit, Obama will attend summits of the Asian-Pacific Economic Cooperation and the East-Asian Community. Obama may meet Russian President Dmitry Medvedev at one of the summits.


The Kremlin invited US President Barack Obama to Russia in December 2011. The US president was expected to arrive within 10 days after the Russian parliamentary polls. Experts were surprised at the urgency of the invitation, normally it takes half a year to organize. In this case the preparations had not been started yet.
