National Assembly Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan said in an interview to the Armenian TV broadcast Armnews that his resignation from the post of speaker of parliament is meant to reinforce his activities as the campaign manager of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia. He added that his resignation marks the launch of the electoral campaign in the republic, RIA Novosti reports.
On Tuesday, Abrahamyan stated his intention to resign in order to head the ruling party's campaign in the parliamentary elections of 2012.
