The US President Barack Obama sent a letter to Georgian President
Mikhail Saakashvili on the occasion of the Independence Day
celebration on May 26th. In the letter he noted that Washington and
Tbilisi remain strategic partners, Georgian Presidential Vice-Speaker
Manana Mandjagaladze said on Thursday, Interfax reports.
In his letter Obama emphasized that Georgia is a sovereign state that
can choose its allies and security mechanisms of its own free will. He
noted that the two countries remain strategic partners. The USA
supports Georgian democratic and economic development and confirms
again its support for Georgia’s territorial unity and sovereignty.
Mandjagaladze also reported that Saakashvili received congratulation
letters from many world leaders.
