BP to stress keeping Caspian ecology safe

BP plans to minimize ecological risks in the Caspian Sea, the director of the BP-Azerbaijan Department for Environment, Faik Askerov, says, 1news.az reports.


The company will study all risks and minimize them. Preservation of flora and fauna will be taken into account during oil extraction.


Commenting on the ecological catastrophe in the Mexican Gulf, Askerov noted that it is an undesirable incident, but BP's reaction to the problem was unique. The company mobilized efforts to clear the damage. It had purchased advanced technologies and trained staff to keep the environment safe and prevent such incidents.


The BP official noted that the company concentrates on preserving the flora and fauna and people’s health in the Caspian Sea.
