Iranian parliamentary speaker Ali Larijani and his Indian counterpart Meira Kumar have called for the enhancement of Tehran-New Delhi parliamentary and economic relations, Press TV reports.
During a Thursday meeting in Tehran, the Iranian speaker highlighted the importance of Tehran-New Delhi bilateral ties and pointed out that the current situation in the region necessitates the expansion of economic ties between the two countries.
“Establishing peace and security in the region requires the cooperation of regional countries,” he said.
The chief Iranian parliamentarian further pointed to the common outlooks of the two countries on such regional issues as establishing peace and fighting terrorism and counternarcotics.
“The speakers of the two countries' parliaments have similar opinions regarding the recently formed democracies in the region and the Palestine issue. These are great potentials that can be further explored,” Larijani added.
