Russian Foreign Ministry urges to support Arab League plan to resolve the situation in Syria

Russian Foreign Ministry urges to support the plan of the League of Arab States (LAS) on the resolution of the situation in Syria, said today the Department of Press and Information of the Foreign Ministry.

Lavrov has sent a message to the foreign ministers of several countries and heads of international organizations urgin to support the plan of the LAS and ensure their ability in order to perform a coordinated action, RIA-Novosti reports.


Last week foreign ministers of the Arab League approved the conflict settlement plan for Syria. The initiative of the League provides, inter alia, the withdrawal of armored units from settlements, release of prisoners from jail kept on charges of involvement in anti-government rallies and initiation of a dialogue with the opposition in the next two weeks.
