Iran says US nuclear claims stem from Middle East defeat

The U.S. accusations that Tehran is using its nuclear program for military purposes are unfounded, said Deputy Secretary of Supreme National Security Council Ali IRI Baghiri, RIA Novosti reported.

On Wednesday the United States, France, Germany and the United Kingdom stated the need for tougher sanctions against Iran. In its turn, Russia believes that the only way to clarify all the issues with the Iranian nuclear program is to create conditions for the resumption of talks between the "six" (Russia, China, USA, France, Britain, Germany) and Iran.

According to Ali Bagirov, "Iran believes that such a position of the U.S. is the result of the defeat of American policies  in the Middle East”.

The Iranian representative expressed the opinion that "the United States get weaker, and therefore fabricate all kinds of rumors, including the use of the Iranian nuclear program for military purposes”.
