Presidential election have started in South Ossetia: polling districts have opened today at 8.00 am Moscow time, reportsRIA Novosti news agency
Polling districts will be closed at 20.00.
Presidential authorities of Edward Kokoity have expires. 11 candidates of 17 registered by Central Electoral Commission participate in the election .
Today will also take place a referendum concerning providing Russian language withe the status of state langauage.
Preliminary results will be known tomorrow. The first data will be published by Central Electoral Committee at 23.00 Moscow time on November, 13 Results will be officially announced within 5 days.
About 80 foreign observers representing various countries and the international organizations have been registered at the elections.
Russian Federation Central Electoral Committee delegation has been invited to be present at the elections.
An aim of the visit is to see how the Protocol on cooperation between the Central Electoral Committee of Russia and Central Electoral Committee of South Ossetia is being implemented. Besides, Russian technical experts help the republic’s Central Electoral Committee to ensure functioning of the International information center and communication with remote polling districts.
Experts predict that turnout will make up 60-70 %.
