18th anniversary of Independence Act in South Ossetia

On May 29th 1992, during the Georgian war of aggression against South Ossetia, the Supreme Soviet of the republic adopted the Act of Independence of the Republic of South Ossetia.

"This act was an important and brave step. We constituted ourselves as a nation and advanced a national idea - the idea of independence", the speaker of the Parliament of South Ossetia stated.

The Prime Minister of South Ossetia, Vadim Brovtsev, congratulated the people of the republic. He said that the formation of Ossetian statehood had a long and heroic history. It was completed after Russia and other countries recognized the independence of South Ossetia de jure in 2008.

At the moment the country is being revived, the Prime Minister said.
