Azerbaijan has started discussions of inter-ethnic and inter-confessional talks on various platforms and media sources in the last time. Some views are rather odd, with doubts whether they are impartial. Fikret Sadykhov, an Azerbaijani political analyst and Professor of the Western University, has clarified the situation to Vestnik Kavkaza.
Azerbaijan has numerous national majorities living in comfort, with respect of their rights, education. They do not need to fear assimilation, the expert says. Accusations of pressure against national minorities could be made in any states.
Commenting on religion and radical Islam, Sadykhov noted that radical Islam is coped with in all states of the world, not just Azerbaijan. The authorities never conceal fighting with terrorist acts of religious groups. The government fights Wahhabism. Radical religious groups that do not take extremist actions are not persecuted.
