The European Parliament will receive a resolution in Brussels reflecting EU support for Tbilisi on Thursday, Salome Samadashvili, head of the Georgian mission to the EU and Georgian Ambassador to Belgium and Luxembourg, said on Thursday, RIA Novosti reports.
"This document represents massive support for Georgia by Europe," Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili said at a meeting with Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, in Tbilisi. The European Parliament will vote on Thursday. The resolution will supportTbilisi and its territories of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergi Kapanadze noted that the resolution will touch upon a set of issues, including security, relations of Georgia and Russia, free trade between Georgia and the EU, liberalization of the visa regime and others.
The resolution was composed by a Polish MP Kshishtof Lizek in April during his visit to Georgia. The committee of international relations of the European Parliament passed it in October.
