Turkey is prepared to establish a joint commission to investigate events relating to the Armenian genocide, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmed Davutoglu reported at a joint press conference with his French counterpart Alain Juppe, Trend cites Turkish TV channel TRT Haber.
"Turkey is ready to establish a joint commission to carry out a thorough background investigation of this issue," Professor Davutoglu said.
Armenia claims the Turkish Republic's predecessor, the Ottoman Empire, committed genocide against Armenians in Anatolia in 1915. The governments of several countries have already recognised 1915 genocide.
