Kazakhstan expects signing of convention on legal status of Caspian Sea

Kazakh Foreign Minister Yerzhan Kazykhanov said on Tuesday that Kazakhstan expects five Caspian states to sign a convention on the status of the Caspian Sea, News Kazakhstan reports.

The minister noted at the special working group for development of the convention that the recent summit in Baku had demonstrated the lack of disagreements that cannot be easily settled between Caspian states.

Delimitation of the sea could be reached even now, Kazykhanov says. Two more days of work would make a sufficient contribution to development of the document.

Ambassador Alexander Golovin, Russian special presidential envoy for delimitation and demarcation of state border with neighbor states of the CIS, says that Russia expects decisions on the convention to organize the Fourth Summit of Caspian States in Moscow.
