The US has frozen several of its obligations towards Russia within the Treaty on Conventional Forces in Europe (CFE Treaty), spokeswoman of the US State Department Victoria Nulan says, RIA Novosti reports.
The US announced in Vienna that the US and NATO allies attempted to decide on Russia’s statement made in 2007 on halting implementation of the treaty for all 29 member states of the treaty.
The CFE Treaty introduces limitations to weapons and military equipment, allows information exchange and a wide range of other activities. A new version of the document was passed after the scrapping of the Warsaw Pact and NATO enlargement signed at the OSCE summit in Istanbul in 1999.
