A delegation of Armenian freighters met the Armenian Minister for Transport and Communication, Manuk Vardanyan, and expressed concerns over traffic at the Verkhny Lars control post on the Russian-Georgian border, News Armenia reports.
The Georgian Road Department said that heavy snow at the Gudauri – Kobi section of the Mstkhet – Stepantsmind – Lars road was closed to trailers, half-trailers and buses with over 30 seats.
Cars may use tunnels on the road for protection against snow. Other means of transport will only be allowed to use it with antiskid equipment installed.
The Verkhny Lars control post is the only direct ground connection between Armenia and Russia for transport. It is located on the Russian-Georgian border. It is important for Armenia due to its blockade by Azerbaijan and Turkey.
