Russia-US relations are not worsening, the head of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Council of Federation (upper chamber of the Russian Parliament), Mikhail Margolov, said.
He said Russia and the United States are successfully cooperating in various fields, including the struggle with international terrorism, drugs trafficking and piracy.
Speaking about Preisdent Medvedev's statement that Russia is ready to deploy missile complexes on its Western borders, Margelov said that the measure was provoked by the US failure to guarantee that its missile defense system in Europe would not be used against Russia.
