Iranian Minister for Roads and Urban Planning Ali Nikzad said in Moscow that the Kazvin-Resht-Astara railway is significant for the North-South corridor construction. Iran is interested in more sides joining the project.
Nikzad noted that conclusion of the corridor construction is significant both for the state and the region as a whole. Russia may have direct passenger transport between Europe and the Gulf. The Iranian official reminded that he had been invited by Russian Minister for Transport Igor Levitin to Moscow. They discussed connection of the Iranian and Russian railways through Azerbaijan.
Russia approves the project and is interested in expansion of maritime freighting using the Iranian ports of Amirabad, Enzeli and Astara.
Nikzad arrived in Moscow assisted by his deputies and the governor of Gilyan Province for the international conference “Transport of Russia”.
