Dagestani President Magomedsalam Magomedov has met officials from the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (IPA), RIA Dagestan reports.
The president met the chairman of the National Assembly of Dagestan, Magomed-Sultan Magomedov, the deputy chairman of the National Assembly, Nicholas Alchiev, the chairman of the Electoral Commission of Dagestan, Magomed Dibirov, and talked with the director of the Baku branch of the International Institute for Monitoring Development of Democracy, Parliamentarism and Fulfillment of Electoral Rights of the CIS IPA, Elman Imamaliyev, and Deputy Director General of the CIS IPA Council, Aydyn Jafarov. They discussed involvement of the CIS IPA as monitor of Russian parliamentary polls.
Jafarov informed about the work of the assembly. It monitored the parliamentary polls in 1994 and has been monitoring processes for six years.
The CIS IPA deputy director general thanked the president for information about activities in the republic.
Magomedov noted that a delegation of the NCFD had visited Azerbaijan and had met Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. He added that the CIS IPA is respected by the PACE and the OSCE.
