President Nursultan Nazarbayev signed the law "On ratification of the Protocol amending the Treaty on Collective Security on May 15, 1992," the presidential press service informed.
In accordance with the protocol, in the event of a threat to the security, stability, territorial integrity and sovereignty of one or more State Parties, or a threat to international peace and security, the StateParties should immediately set in motion the mechanisms of joint consultations to coordinate their positions and develop and adopt measures to help, Novosti-Kazakhstan agency says.
If one of the participating countries is the target of aggression it willbe considered as aggression towards all State Parties to the Treaty. At the request of any country all the others will provide assistance, including military assistance, following the right to collective defense in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter.
