Armenian president visits Georgia

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan is starting a two-day visit to Georgia today, News.am reports.


The president will discuss bilateral relations and sign documents on cooperation in various spheres.


Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Nino Kalandadze said in Tbilisi on November 28 that it is the first return visit since a visit by the Georgian president in early 2011.


The sides will sign documents on cooperation, standardization and sports. The Foreign Ministries of the two states will also sign a cooperation protocol. Kalandadze noted cultural activities.


The Armenian Community in Georgia filed a letter to the Armenian and Georgian presidents to discuss opportunities for Armenians to get an education in Georgia in their own language, the return of property of the Armenian Apostolic Church and recognition of the Armenian Genocide by Georgia.


The Armenians of Javakhka requested the Armenian president to consider talks on the release of Vaagn Chakhalyan.
