The situation around Iran became more tense after publication of a report by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on the Iranian nuclear program on November 8. It said that Iran had been working on nuclear arms since 2003. The IAEA passed a resolution on Iran, urging it to allow experts to observe nuclear facilities and start cooperation. The US and France called for new sanctions against Iran. The UK expanded the list of measures against Tehran. The UK introduced economic and political sanctions and withdrew its ambassador from Tehran.
