Saudi Arabia announced readiness to increase oil extraction if new sanctions against Iran are passed, Republican Senator Mark Kirk said.
Kirk is the author of amendments to the bill on Pentagon financing, aimed at crashing the Iranian Central Bank. The bill authorizes President Barack Obama to punish foreign financial institutions for conducting activities with the Iranian Central Bank. Their accounts in US banks were requested to be frozen. The document is aimed at immediate steps to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear arms.
Some experts believe that such measures would send oil prices rocketing and destabilize world markets. This is why the Obama administration has not acted yet.
The US passed additional sanctions against companies cooperating in the Iranian nuclear sphere last week. 11 groups and individuals were blacklisted.
