Israel insists Iran abandon nuclear program – Ehud Barak

Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak said that Tel Aviv is not planning attacks on Iran in the future but insists on Iran’s abandoning its nuclear program, Gazeta.ru reports.The West and Israel say the Iranian program is aimed at building a nuclear weapon. Iran says it is of a strictly civilian nature.


Israel shows no fear. It does not need wars, Barak says. The state would want sanctions to clarify Iran’s position on the nuclear program. But it is unlikely to happen, he notes.


The defense minister commented on the recent explosions and accidents at Iranian nuclear facilities. He believes that any delays in Iran getting nuclear arms, whether they were an act of God or other reasons, are welcome.
