Voting in the parliamentary elections finished in the Russian capital Moscow at 8 p. m. local time (4 p. m. GMT).
The elections will finish in the Kaliningrad Oblast, Russia's westernmost region, surrounded by foreign countries, in about an hour.
As of 6.00 p.m. Moscow time the turnout was about 50 per cent, RIA Novosti reports. In the 2007 State Duma elections, the turnout was 63.71%. The highest turnout was registered in the North Caucasus republic of Chechnya.
