The Russian Defense Ministry will soon send deputy defense minister Anatoly Antonov to Azerbaijan to attend the talks on a final settlement of issues related to the extension of the lease of the Gabala radar station, spokesperson for Russian Defense Minister, lieutenant colonel Irina Kovalchuk said today, Trend reports.
She said that Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov met with Azerbaijani counterpart, Colonel General Safar Abiyev. They discussed the state and prospects of cooperation between Russia and Azerbaijan in the military sphere, including the issues relating to the extension of the term of the agreement on the status, principles and conditions of using the Gabala radar station, RIA Novosti reported.
"It is planned to begin inter-state negotiations to resolve these issues in the nearest future," she said. A decision was made to send a Russian inter-departmental delegation, headed by Deputy Defense Minister Anatoly Antonov to Baku."
