Massive opposition rally to be held in Russia tomorrow

A massive opposition rally is going to be held in Moscow on Saturday, Russian media report.

People are demanding new elections, saying the recent polls were illegitimate. Demonstrations are going to be held in many Russian cities, with the biggest rally to take place on Moscow's Bolotnaya Square.

The meeting is organized by several opposition groups, including Solidarnost, whose co-leader Ilya Yashin is currently under arrest, along well as hundreds of other people. The protests were supported by many Russian public figures, including famous actor Oleg Basilashvili, best-seller writer Boris Akunin and even former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev.

The international community also supported Russians' struggle for democracy. Former president of Czechoslovakia, Václav Havel, hailed protests saying that Russia need to break with its Soviet-style political system.

Solidarity demonstrations are also going to be held in London, Dublin, Paris, Berlin, Prague and other European cities.Similar events are also planned in Tokyo and Montreal.
