One of the largest Canadian oil companies, Suncor Energy, has stopped operating in Syria and is moving out, ITAR-TASS cites the company on Sunday.
The company cancelled its contract with the General Petroleum Corporation after the EU introduced anti-Syrian sanctions on December 2. Suncor Energy has its headquarters in Calgary. The company is also planning to provide support for Syrian staff.
Canadian Foreign Minister John Baird said in the House of Commons that Canadians in Syria were recommended to leave Syria while they still can.
