Georgia and EU start talks on free trade

Georgia and the EU have started negotiations on free trade, Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Nino Kalandadze said in Tbilisi, RBC reports.


The first session of Georgian and EU experts will be held in January 2012.


Georgian Prime Minister Nikoloz Gilauri attended the opening of talks in Brussels. He will meet the President of the European Commission, Jose Manuel Barroso, and the European Commissioner for Trade, Karel De Gucht. He will also meet Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, the incumbent Chairman of the EU.


The EU announced readiness for the initiative a few days ago.
