The State Council of Adygeya has given the majority of votes to its acting leader, Aslan Tkhakushinov, RIA Novosti reports.
The United Russia Party proposed three candidates for the position to President Dmitry Medvedev: Tkhakushinov, Prime Minister Murat Kumpilov and a member of the Federation Council, Vyacheslav Shverikas.
Tkhakushinov’s current authority ends in January 2012. He was proposed to deputies by Vladimir Ustinov, Plenipotentiary Presidential Envoy to the Southern Federal District.
