Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said at a live Q&A show that the Ministry for Regional Development is unable to solve inter-ethnic problems efficiently in its current structure. The PM believes that the Ministry for Nationalities may be re-established.
The Ministry for Regional Development stresses on social and economic issues, paying less attention to ethnic problems, Putin explains. The subject is worth thinking over, the prime minister commented on General Aslambek Aslakhanov's initiative to form the ministry.
Responding to the next question "May be its time to stop feeding the Caucasus?", Putin reminded that Chechen Leader Ramzan Kadyrov is restoring the republic, the corruption level there is minimal. "We must develop production, economy, the social sphere so that the Caucasus would not be a place people would want to leave, so that they could realize themselves and fulfill their demands. This is ,doubtlessly, necessary if we want to keep unity of our state, we need to invest", the prime minister says.
