Party legislature may be liberalized - Putin at annual Q&A

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said at his live Q&A show "Talk with Vladimir Putin. Continuation" that liberalization of party legislature is possible, after registration of opposition. The statement was made in answer to a question about former Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov, the chairman of the unregistered opposition party PARNAS.
Putin reminded his listeners about rumours of corruption, but since there was no evidence, the official was allowed to continue work until his term of office ends. The prime minister added that the official did try to do something in the first 1-1.5 years. But there was no activity for two years.
There could be steps towards liberalization and registering minor parties, such as in some European states. All political parties have access to the mass media. France, for instance, gives such access depending on the seats a party has in the parliament and regional parliaments, Putin explained.
