Surkov declines to head Russian presidential administration

Vladislav Surkov has declined to head the Russian presidential administration, RBC reports.

Surkov has been the acting head of the Presidential Administration since resignation of Sergey Naryshkin.
Experts say that the most likely candidates for the position are Vyacheslav Volodin, Vice-Premier and head of the government’s office, and Natalya Timakova, press secretary of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.

Sergey Naryshkin, leading the list of the United Russia of the Leningrad Region, entered the parliament after the polls. He declined his mandate on December 15. Political analysts say that Naryshkin was offered a position of Speaker of the lower chamber of parliament after resignation of Boris Gryzlov.
