EU expands criticism over Russia's parliamentary elections

The leader of the European Liberal Democratic Party, Guy Verhofstadt, suggests that the Russian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe should be deprived of membership of the body, Grani.ru reports on Friday.

The European Parliament has already condemned the December parliamentary elections and called for a rerun.

At the same time, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has said recently that he wouldn't pay any attention to the EU's statements and urged the European countries to mind their own business.

The blunt retorts came during the recent Russia-EU summit held in Brussels. Naturally, the EU delegation at the same summit rejected Russia's offer to sign an agreement on a visa-free regime.
