Russian parliamentary parties' leaders to run for president

The leaders of all political parties represented in the Russian parliament are going to run for president in 2012, ITAR-TASS reports.

The ruling United Russia party nominated Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, the Communist party nominated Genady Zyuganov, the Just Russia party - former speaker of the upper chamber of the parliament Sergey Mironov, and the nationalistic LDPR party - Vladimir Zhirinovsky.

The liberal Yabloko party, which is not represented in the parliament, nominated Professor Grigory Yavlinsky, despite criticism from its supporters, who urged Alexey Navalny's nomination.

The presidential elections are going to be held in Russia in March, 2012.
